Jay Lorenzo.

Dear people of Ortegal, sailors, and good people of the world:

My full name is Jesús Manuel Formoso Lorenzo, I am a photographer and creator of the website www.ortegalmaxico.com, and it is an honor for me to welcome you to my personal space on this website. From now on, I will address you under the alias Jay Lorenzo, which is the pseudonym I generally use for my social media profiles and to sign my photographs.

Since I was a child, I consider myself an incurable dreamer. It may even be that I have no specific talents, but what I do have is an insatiable curiosity and an often overflowing imagination. It was precisely the combination of these qualities that led me to the fascinating world of photography.

Photography is much more to me than just an art or a technique; it is a direct connection to the specific moment in which it was taken. From the moment I hold the camera in my hands, I feel like, through the lens, I can capture the beauty that surrounds us and enjoy it over and over again, whenever I wish.

Who Is Jay Lorenzo?

Each time I venture out to explore with my camera, I do so in the hope of capturing something unique, something that has never been seen or experienced before. I seek beauty in the most unexpected corners, in the imperfections and contradictions of everyday life. It is a constant journey of discovery, where each image is a new opportunity to marvel at the infinite diversity and complexity of our world.

In summary, photography is my means of expression, my way of communicating with the world, and my way of leaving a mark on history. It is an art that challenges, inspires, and enriches me in ways that go beyond words. And although I will never be able to capture all the beauty and complexity of the universe in a single image, I will continue to pursue that impossible dream with passion and determination, knowing that each photograph is a small step toward eternity.

Cassiopea's Gathering - Jay Lorenzo

Photography inspires me to seek, in the words of the great painter William Turner, the “ever seen before," to challenge the limits of the conventional and explore new creative horizons. It is a never-ending journey, full of surprises and revelations, inviting me to look beyond the obvious and find beauty in the most insignificant details.

Every time I press the shutter, I am freezing a moment in time, transforming the fleeting and transient into something tangible and enduring. It's a magic trick that never ceases amazing me.

But photography goes beyond mere visual representation. It is a universal language that transcends language and cultural barriers. An image can evoke deep emotions, tell complex stories, and convey powerful messages without the need for words. It is an extraordinary means of communication that allows us to share experiences, ideas, and visions of the world in an immediate and visceral way.

Canary Wharf Multidimension - Jay Lorenzo

Many ones say that life "is too short" (and it probably is), but I am one of those who believe that in one life, there is plenty of time, and yet, there is no time to waste. That is why, some time ago, I decided to leave behind the conformity of being just an individual, consumed like so many others by despair. I took my dreams, knowledge, experience, and convictions and embraced them with all my strength to live, from then on, with one idea and one mission: to be a photographer and content creator of Ortegal. Some may say that this sounds like 'a dream came true’' but the truth is that it was my reality what suddenly became into dreams. Dreams that, of course, I will share with you here, on ortegalmaxico.com.

Aware of the responsibility that comes with a challenge of this magnitude and the positive impact photography can generate in our world, and particularly in all the villages of Ortegal, I will strive to faithfully represent the beauty of this region through the images I will exhibit on Ortegal Máxico. And what better way to do it than by contributing at the same time to the preservation of Ortegal's rural and landscape heritage, a place full of beauty and charm that deserves to be preserved for future generations.
