This idea, the search for what has never been captured, moves us photographers to confront nature in its purest state. When Squall Herminia hit Cape Ortegal with full power, we couldn't stand to go out with our cameras to capture that unique and unrepeatable moment. We knew it would not be easy, but something inside us pushed us to accept the challenge.

Centenary of the Galerna Shipwreck at Cape Ortegal
November 26, 1924, marked a dark day in the history of Cariño and the Galician coast. That day, a sudden galerna—a weather phenomenon feared by fishermen—violently struck Cabo Ortegal, catching 23 small boats as they fished for mackerel in the cold Atlantic waters. Three of them, Dos Amigos, Remedios, and Mª Andrea, were trapped in the A Cova area, at the mercy of the storm. Fourteen sailors never returned home.

The Ortegal Cape is located on the highest cliffs in continental Europe and rises steeply from the sea in a place of wild and breathtaking beauty in northern Galicia. It has a lighthouse atop the cliff, from where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean and coastline. Its rocks were formed in the earth's mantle 1,156 million years ago and are the fourth oldest on the planet, stoically resisting the fury of the Atlantic for millions of years.
